Lunchtime changes!

28th March 2014

Dear Parents & Carers,

I am very pleased to link here an introductory letter from Lunchtime, our new caterers from after the Easter holidays, and new menus for the summer term. Work will be ongoing through the holidays to re-fit the school kitchen ready for production of food cooked from fresh ingredients on-site.

Partly in response to the survey sent out earlier this year and also in preparation for all Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children being offered free meals from September, we will be making several other changes from the beginning of the summer term:

  • Key stage 2 children will have a later lunchtime from 12.15pm – 1.15pm.
  • All packed lunches (including Years 5 & 6) will be eaten at tables in the hall (not on benches). When the weather is warm enough, we hope to give the option of packed lunches being eaten on an area of the field.
  • Packed lunches and hot meals will be able to sit together in the hall.
  • No paper menu selection. Lunchtime are guaranteeing full selection from their menus to the last child. Parents & carers will be able to order a meal on the morning (although ideally notice ahead of time will be helpful). Children will inform their teacher of their choice at registration.
  • Bought packed lunches will be available daily for those who prefer their children to have a larger evening meal.
  • Children will be free to go back for second helpings, including dessert options: fruit, yoghurt, cheese & biscuits.
  • The price per meal will remain at £2.10 for the summer term and we ask parents & carers to continue to pay online through ParentPay.

As I am sure you will appreciate, there will be a period of adjustment whilst these changes are embedded, but we are very much looking forward to lunchtimes being a healthier, more enjoyable and celebrated part of the day for all children. If you, or your children, have any questions or concerns please contact the school office to discuss these.

Yours sincerely,

Mike Fish
